
Its not unusual to find that the mountains around Ennerdale are shrouded in cloud but usually there is still some view across the lake. Not today, the lake and the sky have become one. No discernible boundary could be seen between the two and neither could the other side of the lake be seen. The lake was totally calm as revealed by the reflections of the trees, a calmness suggesting that nature was happy with the weather even if we as visitors to the valley were disappointed by the lack of view. However lacking the view the atmosphere was very moody and the stillness added to the sense of occasion.
