The Wild Ennerdale Partnership is committed to providing public access and in November a small group including partners from The National Trust, Forestry Commission and Lake District National Park Authority met to discuss aspects of path surfacing and signing. A focus for the meeting was to discuss proposals for maintenance and improvements to the Scarth Gap path (above) at the east end of the valley. Some sections of this path were upgraded ten years ago but other sections now need improving and the path is to be included in the Fix The Fells Project for 2008-9. The aim will be too pitch with stones the most eroded sections of the path and improve some earlier sections as path repair techniques have improved over the last ten years.
