Watching for fish spawning is a magical and enchanting activity especially for children. Here pupils of Ennerdale school guided by Environment Agency staff watch for spawning Arctic Charr. This year surveys of the River Liza and its tributaries have for the first time found Charr upstream of the Irish Bridge which along with the release in June the year of around 16,000 Charr fry hopefully signals an improving future for this species.
