Juniper may also hold the key to the valleys name. We know that the old Scandinivina Norse language has influenced many place names in Cumbria such as "Thwaite" meaning meadow. Interestingly Juniper when translated into modern day Norwegian becomes "Einer" or in Swedish "En" which is remakably close to the spelling at the beginning of the valleys name of Ennerdale. Check it out for yourself.
